PERFORMANCE
Ford Edge

Both the Edge and the Blazer come standard with potent powertrains that are reliable and fun to drive.

Engine Options

The Chevy Blazer has two engines to choose from. Its standard 2.0L Turbo 4-cylinder engine puts out 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. For an extra bit of pep, the available 3.6L V6 engine delivers 308 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque.

The Ford Edge also has two engine options. However, you’ll get more power than you will out of either of the Chevy Blazer’s engines.

  • 2.0L EcoBoost® turbocharged engine: 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque
  • Available 2.7L EcoBoost® V6 engine: 335 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque

With power like that under the hood, the Edge easily edges out its competition.

Drivetrains

The Blazer falls short of the Edge in more ways than one. It comes standard with front-wheel drive. To get all-wheel drive, you’ll have to upgrade your vehicle.

All trim levels of the Edge come standard with Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (AWD) to provide extra traction and control. When the road ahead gets slick and requires more grip, the AWD system delivers it.

INTERIOR
Ford Edge

The Ford Edge has more to offer under the hood, but what about inside the cabin? You’ll need an SUV that’s roomy enough to accommodate everyone you want to take along as well as all their essentials.

Passenger Space

Both models have seating for five riders, but that’s where their spatial similarities end. As the table below shows, no matter where you’re seated, you’ll have more room in the Ford Edge than in the Chevy Blazer.

Ford Edge
Chevy Blazer
Headroom (First Row/Second Row) 40.2 inches/40.3 inches 39.8 inches/38.6 inches
Shoulder Room (First Row/Second Row) 60.3 inches/60.5 inches 59.1 inches/58.6 inches
Hip Room (First Row/Second Row) 55.9 inches/57.5 inches 55.6 inches/54.2 inches
Legroom (First Row/Second Row) 42.6 inches/40.6 inches 41 inches/39.6 inches
Cargo Room

You’ll find a similar situation with the cargo volume of each model. The Ford Edge has 39.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear row that expands to a maximum 73.4 cubic feet when you fold down that row.

The Blazer has just 30.5 cubic feet behind its rear row and only offers a maximum 64.2 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear row folded, meaning you may have to leave some items behind.

TECHNOLOGY
Ford Edge

Technology in all its various forms is a big part of vehicles on the road today. The Edge and the Blazer both have a plethora of tech to make your rides fun while also serving as a virtual copilot.

Infotainment on the Go

Infotainment systems with six speakers are standard in both SUVs to keep you connected and entertained. The Blazer has a 10.2-inch touchscreen, while the touchscreen in the Edge is 12 inches!

These infotainment systems include standard:

  • Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™
  • Wi-Fi® Hotspot
  • SiriusXM®

The Ford SUV has the “edge,” though, in several ways. While both models can be upgraded to a premium sound system, the Bose® audio system in the Blazer comes with eight speakers. For a superior listening experience, choose the Edge with its B&O® Sound System by Bang & Olufsen® that provides 12 robust speakers throughout the cabin.

Safety Technology

Both models offer comprehensive driver-assistance systems designed to provide peace of mind when you’re behind the wheel. The Ford Edge and the Chevy Blazer have brand-specific versions of the following safety systems:

  • Rear View Camera
  • Auto High-Beam Headlamps
  • Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking
  • Lane-Keeping System

However, the Ford Edge comes standard with BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert. This added layer of protection detects and alerts you to vehicles in your blind spots and behind your Edge when you’re backing out of a driveway or parking spot. You’ll only find a similar feature on upper-level trims of the Chevy Blazer.
